Job summary

TotalMed RN in Slidell, Louisiana is seeking a CVOR RN for a 13-week travel assignment in the OR. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and ACLS/BLS certifications.

This travel role is 40 hours per week with 8-hour days and a standard schedule likely involving days shifts. As a CVOR RN, you will provide circulating care for cardiothoracic surgeries, support the surgical team, maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
• ACLS and BLS required.
• Additional certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and evaluate the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure.
• Participate in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation.
• Administer prescribed medications, apply dressings, monitor vital signs.
• Assist physician during procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique and monitor for breaches in aseptic technique.
• Coordinate the operating room with respect to sterility, equipment and supplies.
• Ensure the proper handling of specimens.
