Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Transportation Assistant (Beneficiary Travel) to manage travel needs for Veterans, verify eligibility, and process travel reimbursements.

You will serve as a frontline contact with Veterans, doctors, and staff, coordinating transportation and accommodations under applicable regulations. The role requires knowledge of travel programs, strong communication, and ability to maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience or education as described for GS-05 level.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and reimbursement processes.
• Ability to coordinate travel for Veterans to appointments and residences.

Responsibilities

• Serves as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs.
• Arrange travel for eligible Veterans to appointments and residences.
• Determine eligibility for Beneficiary Travel and process requests.
• Maintain manual and electronic accounting records.
• Reconciling vouchers against authorizations for accuracy.
• Assist team during peak workload and adapt to staffing changes.
