Job summary

Ozark Opportunities Inc seeks a Mental Health Behavioral Technician to support young children, families, and staff across six-county Head Start programs. You will implement behavior support strategies and promote social-emotional development while traveling using the agency vehicle.

The role requires 50%+ travel within Baxter, Boone, Marion, Newton, Searcy, and Van Buren counties. Starting wage is based on experience and education, with a 10-month school-year schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience with children 0–5 in early childhood/Head Start preferred.
• Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and positive behavior support.
• Strong observation, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to travel across the six-county service area.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to children with social-emotional/behavioral challenges.
• Assist with implementing individualized behavior support plans.
• Model and promote positive behavior guidance per Head Start standards.
• Support children in self-regulation, coping, and social skills.
• Collaborate with teachers to create positive classrooms.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback on strategies.
• Assist with social-emotional learning activities and routines.
• Document incidents, interventions, and child progress.
• Support family engagement by sharing resources and strategies.
• Work with Family Advocates and multidisciplinary teams for consistent support.
• Maintain confidential records and follow program policies.
