Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Trauma Registrar to collect, abstract and enter clinical data for admitted trauma patients. You will code injuries using ICD-10-CM and AAAM systems, ensure timely entry into TraumaOne, and uphold accuracy and compliance with ACS and NTDB standards.

You will work with the Trauma Program Manager to maximize data quality, participate in site visits, and support performance improvement efforts across the trauma service.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of anatomy.
• Strong medical terminology background with healthcare experience.
• Solid knowledge of ICD-10-CM preferred.
• Knowledge of database management and Microsoft Office Suite.
• High initiative, judgment, discretion, and ability to function independently.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect, abstract and enter clinical data of admitted trauma patients.
• Enter data into the TraumaOne database following Data Entry Policy.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, ACS, NTDB and American Burn Association.
• Identify and enter patients into the trauma database using inclusion criteria.
• Assign ICD-10-CM and AAAM codes to injuries.
• Maintain timely records; 80% of cases within 60 days of discharge.
• Participate in data validation to ensure data integrity.
• Maintain 95% accuracy per Data Validation form.
• Update data dictionaries and reference documents to improve accuracy.
• Collaborate with Trauma Program Manager to optimize data abstraction efficiency.
• Prepare for ACS site visits and institutional reviews.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to promote trauma program goals.
• Engage in professional development and adhere to policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
