Qualifications

  • Associate of Arts or Science in Health Information Management or related field.
  • 3+ years trauma registry experience or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science.
  • If not completed, complete required courses within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic data collection of demographics and coding from all sources into trauma registry database.
  • Interacts with physicians, nurses, and trauma team to perform registry functions.
  • Keeps registry current as 80% complete within 60 days of discharge.
  • Determines appropriateness of patient entry into the Trauma Registry using PTOS/ACS/TQIP guidelines.
  • Provides high quality data entry by abstraction of required data elements from the EMR.
  • Maintains data accuracy and timely submission per state and national benchmarks.
  • Resolves coding issues and seeks guidance from Trauma Program leadership when needed.
  • Reports data in formats such as Excel/PowerPoint for internal/external use.
