Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Trauma Performance Improvement Nurse to coordinate data collection, analysis, and education across hospital departments involved in care of traumatically injured patients.

The role ensures compliance with DSHS/ACS standards and supports the Trauma Program Manager/Director in achieving quality outcomes and patient safety improvements. Requires RN license, BSN, and 3 years in ED or trauma ICUs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• Registered Nurse license required; TOPIC course within one year.
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in either emergency department or a critical care area within a designated/verified trauma center.
• Effective oral and written communication skills while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Demonstrates proficiency in word processing, development of spreadsheets, data reporting, and statistical analysis.
• Demonstrates the ability to critically think and perform chart abstraction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Trauma Performance Improvement Program at the facility level, including data collection, collations, analysis, modification and instruction.
• Review Performance Improvement indicators and medical records for accuracy and documentation per DSHS/ACS.
• Collect and analyze benchmarking data, focus studies and clinical indicators.
• Provide education, ensure loop closure, prepare reports and present outcomes for continuous improvement in trauma care.
• Organize trauma education and orientation for new staff to facility charting and trauma care expectations.
• Monitor compliance with trauma program standards and applicable policies and regulatory requirements.
• Document performance improvement processes to measure success and next steps.
• Provide patient follow-up with physicians, hospitals and EMS.
