Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a Nursing Assistant to perform direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, promoting comfort and safety while engaging with patients and families.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, transporting patients, performing basic tests and glucose checks per policy, and supporting the care team to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care by providing basic physical care under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and maintain timely care.
• Transport patients and specimens per policy and escort for procedures/discharge.
• Perform routine tests and phlebotomy as directed, record vital signs.
• Communicate patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
