Job summary

Valley Youth House in Bethlehem seeks a full-time Residential Youth Counselor to supervise youth on the floor, support individualized plans, and promote safety and well-being in a trauma-informed setting.

You will lead activities, assist with daily living, coordinate meals, document progress in Credible, and participate in mandatory training and team meetings. A high school diploma or GED and 1 year working with adolescents are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of work with adolescents.
• Basic cooking knowledge to teach meals as life skills.
• Strong judgment and knowledge of adolescent development.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Creative and flexible approaches with diverse populations.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle inspection.
• Pass annual motor vehicle clearance to operate agency vehicles.
• Proficient computer skills (Windows); familiarity with Google Suite.
• No history of prohibited criminal or child abuse offenses.

Responsibilities

• Spend at least 95% of time on in-person goal planning, supervision, and safety on the floor.
• Engage youth in implementing individual plans using positive youth development and trauma-informed approaches.
• Support activities of daily living incl. meals, housing, money management, and health.
• Facilitate life skills groups and structured activities for development.
• Intervene and report crises per agency and government protocols; complete safety plans.
• Maintain accurate client documentation and shift notes in Credible; assist with records.
• Attend mandatory trainings (min 40 hours/year) and participate in team meetings.
