Job summary

SJRC Texas is seeking a Shift Supervisor-Youth Care Specialist in Bulverde, TX. The role involves supervising Youth Care Specialists, ensuring program integrity, and coordinating weekly schedules.

The position requires direct care experience, a high school diploma (college credit preferred), a valid Texas driver's license, and flexibility in work hours. You will support youths using trauma-informed techniques and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• At least two years in a Direct Care Staff role or its equivalent.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required; GED acceptable.
• College degree or college credit is preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to work a wide array of hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass reference verification and required trainings.
• Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks.
• Commit to at least two years of service and provide 30-day termination notice.
• Age minimum of 21 years as per licensing standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Youth Care Specialists while in ratio and provide direct care for youth.
• Collaborate to create weekly staff schedules and obtain approvals.
• Coordinate with the team to ensure continuity of the program and regular meetings.
• Maintain logs, documents, and reports for the assigned cabin.
• Read, write, and communicate with coworkers, medical personnel, and others as needed.
• Provide emotional support using trauma-informed techniques and encouragement.
• Use problem-solving to address behavioral issues and provide crisis intervention.
• Plan and participate in educational and entertaining activities for youths.
• Model positive parenting and relationship skills to clients and guardians.
• Maintain contact with internal and external agencies for youth progress information.
• Document youth progress and incidents in shift notes and with case managers.
• Encourage participation in spiritual activities with respect for individual faiths.
• Assist with supervising activities and coordinating transport as needed.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and DFPS GRO minimum standards.
• Report suspected abuse or neglect to the Administrator and DFPS hotline.
• Keep leadership informed of emergencies or unusual developments.
• Complete duties assigned by supervisor and perform other related tasks.
