Job summary

Community Solutions Inc. seeks a Youth Advocate for the SAIL Program in Meriden, CT. This part-time position supports young adults 18-23, fostering life skills and safe, relational environments. The role is entry-level and suits new graduates or career changers in human services.

Wage starts at $19.75/hr with second and third shift differentials. Shifts are Thursday to Saturday nights. Benefits include medical, dental, vacation, and retirement options as part of CSI's commitment to staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least six months of experience or a bachelor’s degree, or an associate’s degree plus 2 years of experience working with youth.
• Experience may be substituted for education.
• Must be willing to learn and implement strengths based, relational, trauma-informed, gender responsive and culturally competent approaches.
• Knowledge of Spanish in oral and written communication is desired.
• Valid driver's license.
• COVID19 vaccination or a negative test prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that the tenets and philosophy of a strengths based, gender responsive, relational, trauma informed program are reinforced.
• Works closely with each resident to support their individual growth and development, ensuring that daily living skills are taught.
• Collaborates with team to ensure that each residents individual goals are attended to, particularly daily living skill areas.
• Consistently encourages and motivates residents, regularly catching them doing it right.
• Reframes and/or redirects residents who are frustrated or struggling in some way.
• Provides positive role modeling for residents at all times, including dress, managing personal emotions, behavior, etc.
