Job summary

Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center in Akron, OH, is seeking a Victim Advocate to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and ongoing advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. The role includes managing a caseload, safety planning, and collaboration with hospitals, law enforcement, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in women’s studies, social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field required. If no degree, previous experience in victim advocacy or related field required.
• Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and be able to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
• Must meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio BCI and FBI).

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis intervention, advocacy, education on crime victims’ rights, and trauma-informed support to survivors in diverse settings (hospitals, centers, law enforcement, courts, campuses, and community organizations).
• Manages an individual caseload, conducts needs assessments, and develops individualized goal plans with clients.
• Uses safety planning and trauma-informed care to support survivors and co-survivors.
• Completes client documentation and statistics in accordance with agency requirements.
• Maintains anonymous/confidential record-keeping for all survivors and contacts.
• Completes minimum 40-hour training in line with OAESV best practices and annual training requirements.
• Collaborates with allied professionals and victim advocacy agencies to ensure coordination and mission alignment.
• Complies with agency policies, CARF standards, and regulatory requirements.
