Job summary

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. seeks a compassionate Therapist to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Texas.

You will conduct intakes, assessments, diagnosis using DSM criteria, and create individualized treatment plans. Responsibilities include individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, safety planning, on-call advocacy at hospitals, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to promote long-term healing

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
• Active Texas license (LMFT, LPC, or LCSW) in good standing; provisionally licensed with supervision may be considered.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience with at-risk or trauma-impacted populations, preferably survivors of domestic or sexual violence.
• Knowledge of community, legal, and mental health resources supporting survivors of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness.
• Ability to conduct crisis intervention, implement safety planning, and respond independently in high-stress situations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate support or psychoeducational groups.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries in accordance with ethical standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays with occasional evenings and weekends as program needs require.

Responsibilities

• The Therapist provides trauma-informed therapy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence (individual, family, and group).
• Conducts comprehensive intakes and clinical assessments; formulates diagnoses using DSM criteria; develops individualized treatment plans.
• Provides ongoing therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and skill-building to help clients process trauma and build coping strategies.
• Performs crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation; responds to crisis hotline calls as needed.
• Rotating 24-hour on-call schedule for in-person advocacy and support at local hospitals; collaborates with law enforcement and emergency personnel.
• May provide court-related support and follow-up; maintains timely clinical documentation.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and participates in case consultations to ensure coordinated care.
• Commitment to professional growth and staying current with trauma-informed best practices.
