Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s CAPS program seeks a skilled mental health professional to provide trauma-informed individual and group psychotherapy for a diverse student population. The TL program focuses on crisis prevention, de-escalation, and bridge care, delivered under supervision within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires advanced counseling expertise, a CA license in process if out-of-state, and the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed to support student wellbeing across UCSD

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted license in a Behavioral Health Counseling discipline.
• Five (5) or more years of licensed experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate by the start date.
• Advanced knowledge of clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
• Expertise in trauma-informed care and managing mental health crises.
• Experience delivering group psychotherapy using CBT, DBT, or ACT.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed individual and group psychotherapy.
• Deliver crisis stabilization and de-escalation within TL program.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Connect students with on- and off-campus resources and referral systems.
