Job summary

Hampton Academy seeks dedicated staff to provide individualized, trauma-focused support and education for children and adolescents aged 6 and up. The role focuses on supervising students, assisting with de‑escalation, and facilitating curriculum activities to help students return to their sending districts.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma and experience with special needs students; training on Handle with Care and de-escalation is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an education-related field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience working with special needs children at the middle/high school level.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and supervises students in all settings.
• Assists in de-escalation of students.
• Assists with arrival and dismissal of students.
• Assists students with various projects, crafts, and curriculum tasks.
• Helps supervise children during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Informs staff of serious infractions of discipline rules.
• Aids physically handicapped children, especially those using prosthetics.
• Attends staff training on Handle with Care procedures and UHS De-escalation.
• Follows Hampton Academy policies and handbook.
• Participates in in-service training as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in education related field

1–3 years experience with special needs children (middle/high school)
