Job summary

Child and Family Focus, Inc. partners with DCIU to provide intensive behavioral and mental health supports for students at DCIU Aston Education Center and The County Alternative High School. The School Based Behavioral Technician will work with CFF and DCIU staff to implement behavioral plans in a classroom setting.

The role is a 10-month position with school-day hours from 7:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, for the 2026–2027 school year and potential continuation in following years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or related human services field.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse plus one year of direct care experience with children/adolescents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in another field plus one year of direct care experience with children/adolescents.
  • Associate’s degree or sixty credits toward a bachelor’s degree plus three years direct care experience with children/adolescents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-to-1 support to the child, and support the educational team to address therapeutic needs using behavioral interventions as outlined in the student’s behavioral plan.
  • Support problem-solving and skill development of the child, youth, or young adult.
  • Instruct children on understanding and managing feelings and emotional responses.
  • Support development of improved decision-making skills to manage behavior.
  • Assist with development of social skills and socially acceptable behaviors.
  • Instruct on stress reduction techniques.
  • Collect behavioral data.
  • Collaborate with team members including CFF School Based Outpatient team at DCIU and others.
  • Consult and obtain supervision biweekly.
  • Submit proof of service delivery and billing within required timeframe.
  • Document case activity using EMR within timeframe.
  • Participate in group supervisions monthly.
  • Apply Trauma-Informed Care core values in all practices.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or other related human services field
