Job summary

Child & Family Focus, Inc. partners with DCIU to provide intensive behavioral and mental health supports for students at DCIU Aston Education Center and The County Alternative High School.

The School Based Behavioral Technician will join CFF and DCIU staff to implement behavioral management within the classroom. The 10-month position runs during the 2026–2027 school year, 7:30am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday, with potential continuation in subsequent years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or related human services field.
• Licensed Registered Nurse plus one year direct care experience with children/adolescents.
• Bachelor’s degree in another field plus one year direct care experience with children/adolescents.
• Associate’s degree or 60 credits toward bachelor’s with three years direct care experience with children/adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 support to the child and educational team to address therapeutic needs in the school setting.
• Support problem-solving and skill development for the child, youth, or young adult.
• Instruct on understanding and managing feelings and emotional responses.
• Assist with development of improved decision-making to manage behavior.
• Help develop social skills and socially acceptable behavior.
• Instruct on stress reduction techniques.
• Collect behavioral data.
• Collaborate with CFF School Based Outpatient team at DCIU, CFF School Based Behavioral Health team, DCIU administrators and educators, outside providers, and parents/caregivers.
• Consult and obtain supervision biweekly.
• Submit proof of service delivery and billing in time.

Job description

Child and Family Focus has partnered with DCIU to provide intensive behavioral and mental health supports to students placed in DCIU Aston Education Center, and The County Alternative High School (TCA). The position of the School Based Behavioral Technician will work with CFF team as well as DCIU teachers and staff in the classrooms to facilitate behavioral management and modification techniques. This position will work along with the students identified behavioral plans in an effort to decrease identified challenging behaviors. This is a 10-month position.

The school day work hours are 7:30am-3pm M-F.

Please note that this position is for the 2026–2027 school year, with the opportunity to continue employment for the following school years.

Qualifications

Individuals who provide Individual Services through Intensive Behavioral Health Counseling services shall meet one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree incounseling, psychology, social work, sociology, education, criminal justice, or other related human services field
• OR a Licensed Registered Nurse a. PLUS one (1) year verified full-time paid experience working in direct care with children/adolescents
• OR a Bachelor’s degree in another field a. PLUS one (1) year verified full-time paid experience working in direct care with children/adolescents
• OR an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credits toward a bachelor’s degree a. PLUS three (3) years verified full-time paid work experience working in direct care with children/adolescents

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 support to the child, as well as educational team to address the therapeutic needs of the child, youth, or young adult using behavioral interventions and strategies as outlined in the student’s behavioral plan in the school setting.
• Support problem-solving and skill development of the child, youth, or young adult.
• Instruct children on how to understand, direct, interpret, manage, and control feelings and emotional responses to situations.
• Support the development of improved decision-making skills to manage behavior.
• Assist with the development of social skills and socially acceptable behaviors.
• Instruct on stress reduction techniques.
• Collect behavioral data.
• Collaborate with team members including but not limited to: CFF School Based Outpatient team at DCIU, CFF School Based Behavioral Health team, DCIU administrators and educators, outside service providers, and parents/care givers.
• Consult and obtain supervision biweekly.
• Submit necessary proof of service delivery and billing documentation within the required timeframe.
• Document case activity using an EMR system within the required timeframe.
• Participate in group supervisions monthly.
• Use and implement the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices - Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, & Empowerment.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Work within in a school setting at DCIU Aston Educational Center, and The County Alternative High School.
