Job summary

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to maintain a safe on-site residential environment and support 24/7 crisis line operations in Evanston, IL. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care and proactive resident engagement.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, safety planning, shelter eligibility screening, and referrals. The role requires flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a minimum of 6 on-call shifts per year and back-up

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year working with crisis-affected individuals and/or domestic violence.
• Licenses/Certifications: Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training; First Aid/CPR; ServSafe Manager Certification.
• Technology: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and orient residents per protocol; reinforce trauma-informed care.
• Provide crisis line support, safety planning, emotional support, and referrals.
• Maintain accurate records in the case management system and Salesforce.
• Conduct housekeeping and safety-related tasks; assist with meals and supplies.
