Job summary

The Recovery Centers of America Management Company is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join our Indiana program in Merrillville. You will support patients in daily activities, lead therapeutic and educational activities, and help maintain a trauma-informed treatment environment.

Work closely with clinical staff to promote safety, engagement, and recovery. A high school diploma and at least 1 year in behavioral health are preferred; strong communication and crisis-de-escalation skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with technology hardware, systems and tools; training provided as needed.
• Familiarity with 12-step modality.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record (as applicable).
• Customer service and problem-solving abilities; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patient activities, safety checks, and completes shift documentation.
• Participates in direct patient care with trauma-informed approaches.
• Assists with the daily patient schedule and activities.
• Recognizes distress signs and responds to escalation.
• Assists with de-escalation, crisis intervention and emergency response.
• Communicates patient concerns to clinical and nursing staff.
• Handles patient belongings processing for admissions and visits.
• Assists with packing belongings for discharge as needed.
• Monitors compliance in Wellness and Workflex areas.
• Supports visitation program and New Patient Orientation.
