Job summary

Frontier Behavioral Health in Spokane seeks a Certified Peer Support Specialist to help individuals on their recovery journeys, provide peer counseling, and connect clients with community resources.

The role emphasizes self-identification in recovery, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and supporting clients toward independent living, with travel to community sites and occasional after-hours coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Self-identify as having one or more years in recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder or both.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist Credential or Trainee credential from WA DOH is required or to be pursued within 90 days of start date.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have an unrestricted and valid driver's license, be able to pass a motor vehicle screening and driving test, have active car insurance, and be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer counseling and support to clients, parents, caregivers, and natural/community supports.
• Mentor clients to build self-advocacy skills and navigate health systems.
• Develop recovery-oriented treatment objectives and interventions with a multidisciplinary team.
• Promote personal responsibility for recovery as defined by the client and the team.
• Engage with clients before discharge and accompany them as they transition to the community.
• Provide after-hours coverage on a schedule rotation, if applicable.
• Maintain client records and all required documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
