Job summary

City and County of Denver’s Office of Municipal Public Defender seeks a dedicated peer support professional to assist clients with resources, court appearances, and reentry planning. The role emphasizes trauma-informed engagement and collaborative work with attorneys and staff.

Qualified candidates may have a peer support certification and experience with Denver's public defense system. On-site schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with strong benefits and family support programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of peer support experience required.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency valued.
  • Experience with Denver Criminal Justice system and public defense is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support, resource navigation and mitigation under attorneys' direction.
  • Build trauma-informed, person-centered relationships with clients.
  • Collaborate with staff to offer holistic, client-centered representation.
  • Visit clients in jail and assist with reentry planning and service connections.
  • Document progress and interactions in the case management system.
