Job summary

Family Service Of Rhode Island Inc in Rhode Island seeks Milieu Counselors to provide direct care and supervision for adolescent female residents aged 13–20 in a residential setting. You will support daily routines and help implement trauma-informed treatment plans with the clinical team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a field related to Human Services, or significant residential/childcare experience.
• Willingness and capability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
• Capabilities to implement appropriate child management techniques, which may include passive physical restraint.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with sufficient seating.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, hands-on support and supervision for youth throughout daily routines.
• Facilitate daily groups and activities (hygiene, activities, budgeting, meals, independent living).
• Maintain program structure, schedule, and document shift notes and incident reports.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities as needed.
• Document in EMR and collaborate with clinical/residential teams; assist with crisis intervention when required.
