Job summary

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) in San Francisco is seeking a Problem Solving Specialist to serve single adults experiencing homelessness. This fully onsite role involves direct client service, assessment, and rapid problem-solving to connect clients with housing resources and community supports.

The position requires a degree in psychology, counseling, or related field, or 3+ years of relevant experience, with strong crisis intervention and trauma-informed approach.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelors Degree in psychology, counseling social work, or related field a plus or at least 3 years experience closely related to the job description.
• Substantial knowledge/experience working with individuals in crisis or unstable housing situations.
• Strong knowledge of issues faced by adults with substance use, trauma, mental health, and related challenges.
• Demonstrates respect for diverse client populations and willingness to work with them.
• Deep knowledge of resources for homeless and low-income residents of San Francisco.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deliver culturally competent services and work in cross-cultural settings.
• Professional and discreet demeanor with tact and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Remove barriers to access by serving single adults experiencing homelessness throughout San Francisco.
• Screen and assess clients using standardized tools and referrals.
• Provide trauma-informed, client-centric services and short-term assistance to exit street homelessness.
• Identify creative, quick-entry solutions for clients to avoid shelter entry.
• Maintain records and enter data in the ONE System for all clients.
• Collaborate with the integrated services team and external partners as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
• Follow ECS policies and safety procedures and participate in required trainings.
