Job summary

Albemarle County's Department of Social Services seeks a Family Preservation Services Worker to partner with families in In-Home Services, developing and implementing family-specific plans to increase child safety, permanency, and well-being. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (or related experience), flexibility to travel, and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a bachelor's degree in any field with two years of relevant experience (Virginia code).
• Must be willing to drive and travel occasionally overnight; may assist in managing emergency shelters.
• Preferred: BSW or MSW and/or Commonwealth of Virginia Social Work license.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical case management to children and families.
• Develop and implement family-specific psychosocial plans.
• Engage with schools, courts, and community partners to coordinate services.
• Perform home visits, school visits, and team meetings.
• Maintain thorough case records and documentation.
• Provide after-hours and weekend coverage on a rotating on-call basis.
