Job summary

FRIENDS, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Crisis Advocate – 1st Shift to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, shelter support, and maintain safety during daytime hours at the emergency shelter in Wisconsin.

You will manage the 24/7 crisis line, assist survivors of violence, and ensure a safe communal living environment while coordinating with case management and operations teams. Two candidates are being sought to fill this frontline role.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or HSED.
• Willing to train; trauma-informed service provision and crisis intervention knowledge preferred.
• Excellent communication skills; cultural competence and ability to interact with diverse populations.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Ability to work flexible hours and manage multiple tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Answer and respond to the 24/7 crisis hotline using trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices.
• Provide safety planning, emotional support, and referrals; assess safety needs.
• Conduct pre-screenings and intake processes for shelter services.
• Maintain on-site safety and structure during the second shift.
• Document hotline calls and client interactions in the agency database (Osnium).
• Complete shelter intakes, discharges, and required documentation.
• Support evening house meetings and communal living management.
• Attend staff meetings and training; represent FRIENDS, Inc. professionally.
