Job summary

Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center in Akron, OH seeks a Direct Service Advocate to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and advocacy to survivors via the 24/7 hotline, web chat, and community-based settings, including healthcare facilities and law enforcement agencies.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to document accurately, and adherence to agency policies and CARF standards.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in communication, public relations, women’s studies, social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field strongly preferred or relevant experience in working with survivors of trauma.
• Victim advocacy training and/or experience preferred.
• Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
• Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations)

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, education on victims’ rights, and trauma-informed support to survivors in diverse settings including hospitals and law enforcement agencies.
• Respond to crisis hotline calls and online chat, and provide information to community members and professionals.
• Utilize crisis intervention best practices including safety planning and trauma-informed care to support survivors.
