Job summary

Nebraska DHHS seeks compassionate Child and Family Services Specialists (CFSS) to support families involved in the child welfare system. You will assess safety, work with families and partners, and promote permanency and well-being for children.

The role involves home visits, court testimony when needed, and trauma-informed approaches. Training hours are Monday–Friday, with after-hours on-call rotation; travel to meet families is common.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice, or other related fields.
• Promotion to CFSS contingent on degree requirements and required training.
• Valid Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a case manager for families referred to DHHS.
• Conduct home visits and comprehensive safety assessments.
• Advocate for the well-being of children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Collaborate with legal system and partners to support permanency goals.
• Write timely, accurate documentation for internal and legal use.
