Job summary

Nebraskas Department of Health and Human Services is hiring Child and Family Services Specialists (CFSS) in Omaha. The role focuses on trauma-informed case management for children and families involved with the child welfare system, including safety assessments and collaboration with partners.

Travel to families’ homes is common, with potential court involvement and on-call rotation. Training precedes responsibilities, with flexible hours after training and strong supervision and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice, or related fields.
• Experience with child welfare/case management is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a case manager for families referred to DHHS.
• Conduct home visits and safety assessments.
• Advocate for children's well-being with families and partners.
• Collaborate with legal system to support permanency goals.
• Write accurate documentation for internal/legal use.
