Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore’s Villa Maria School is seeking a Behavioral Specialist to provide crisis support and proactive assistance to students aged from kindergarten through 8th grade in a 12-month program. The role emphasizes Trauma-Informed Care, CARE principles, and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention to maintain a safe, educational environment.

The position requires a high school diploma and 4 years of experience with children or special populations, with training in TCI and CARE

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 4 years experience with children or special populations.
• TCI and CARE training provided after hire (within 2 and 3 months).
• Ability to learn and use computer systems, web browsing, training, and email usage.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, therapeutic environment for residential or school youth.
• Model CARE, TIC, and TCI principles in interactions with youth and staff.
• De-escalate volatile situations using appropriate interventions.
• Coordinate and guide staff during crises and in prevention/de-escalation techniques.
• Assist in orientation of new staff and share crisis response best practices.
• Ensure restraints are observed by a Nurse and participate in debriefings.
