Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore's Villa Maria School seeks a Behavioral Specialist to provide crisis support and proactive youth assistance in a therapeutic setting. You will implement safety and interventions aligned with TIC, ICMP, and program policy.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, in a 12-month program serving students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Candidates require a HS diploma and experience with children or special populations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 4 years experience with children or special populations required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to de-escalate and manage crisis effectively.
• Willingness to learn CARE, TIC and related protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to youth to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Interact with youth and model CARE, TIC and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
• Apply CARE model to guide interactions and support youth, families, and staff.
• Assess volatile situations and de-escalate using appropriate interventions.
• Follow Treatment Plans and ICMPs; ensure program policies are followed.
• Counsel youth to resolve crises and promote self-control and problem solving.
• Mentor staff on prevention and de-escalation techniques.
• Assist in onboarding new staff on restraint techniques and crisis assessment.
• Coordinate with staff during crises and ensure proper coverage.
• Participate in debriefings and follow risk management procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
