Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare in Denver seeks a Behavioral Health Education Specialist II to support education planning, lead instructional activities, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement interventions. You will provide individual, trauma-informed care and focal coping strategies while developing safety plans and skills in patients.

The role requires leading education sessions, applying Crisis Intervention approaches, and documenting progress in Epic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or related field (education is verified).
• Ability to obtain Colorado Department of Education substitute license within 6 months of hire.
• Pass of Special Education Training on IEP reading and implementation provided by the Special Education Supervisor.
• Demonstrated experience in the practice of de-escalating negative behaviors and creating safe environments.
• Demonstrated experience in Behavioral Health, Special Education, Early Childhood Education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for critical and time-sensitive daily documentation.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Positive driving record, current Colorado license.
• BLS and First Aid within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Leads a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment with the multidisciplinary team.
• Independently initiates and assists the Special Education Teacher with planning, instruction, and facilitation.
• Facilitates social emotional learning and academic instruction.
• Uses TBRI and TCI to manage emotions and behaviors.
• Responds to crises and documents interventions; may use physical restraint per policy.
• Documents care in Epic and mentors peers on documentation.
• May float to other classrooms/departments as needed.
