Job summary

Laraway is seeking a Behavioral Interventionist to provide daily educational and behavioral support to students, in one-to-one and small groups, including outdoor learning. Under supervision, you will assist with academic plans and school-to-work initiatives.

You will develop trauma-informed practices, collaborate with clinical and special education staff, participate in meetings, complete paperwork, and model respectful interactions with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing in human services with willingness to pursue Behavior Technician certification.
• Agency training and supports provided.

Responsibilities

• Develop trauma-informed practices through connection, relationship building, co-regulation, empathy, acceptance, congruence, presence, and attunement.
• Maintain awareness of own affect, posture, body language, and tone of language.
• Participate in ongoing evaluations and reviews of student education and treatment plans.
• Support students in the understanding and implementation of these plans.
• Become familiar with students’ academic abilities and disabilities, treatment needs and behavior plans.
• Actively participate in Laraway School and agency meetings, trainings, events, etc.
• Complete related program, agency, and regulatory paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Demonstrate and model respect for clients, families, staff and property.
• Build and maintain professional relationships and appropriate boundaries with staff, clients and community partners.
• Foster a positive approach to problem solving and maintain a positive environment.
• Model and utilize best practices in education and special education.
