Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist nursing staff in the Trauma ICU. This PRN role involves patient care, vital signs, specimen handling, and charting under RN supervision.

You will participate in care planning, unit clerical tasks, and maintaining a safe environment while adhering to HIPAA and hospital policies. Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program with CPR/BLS and have at least 1 year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program (diploma, associate or bachelor degree in nursing) and have completed fundamentals of nursing
• Qualified by education, training or experience to work with diverse patient populations
• Must provide proof of continuous enrollment in an approved nursing program to maintain employment
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• At least 1 year experience in patient care or equivalent on-the-job training

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in patient care as determined by policies and procedures
• Take and record vital signs; collect and transport specimens
• Perform clerical duties related to admissions, discharges, and unit records
• Support care plan implementation and documentation, under direct RN supervision
• Maintain isolation precautions and prepare environment and supplies for care/treatment
• Respond to emergencies and assist with routine and pre/post procedural care
