Job summary

Regional One Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist nursing staff in patient care at Memphis’ Jefferson 5D Trauma. You will work under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing selected nursing tasks and maintaining records for admitted patients.

Qualified candidates are nursing students enrolled in an approved program, with CPR/BLS certification and at least one year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program and provide proof of continuous enrollment.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.
• At least 1 year experience in patient care or equivalent on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Participate in nursing care per policies and procedures.
• Take and record vital signs and monitor patient status.
• Collect and transport specimens as needed (urine, stool, sputum).
• Maintain patient records, documentation and unit supplies.
• Provide bedside care and assist with transfers and activities of daily living.
• Communicate patient needs and respond to emergencies as required.
