Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN is seeking a Nurse Extern for PRN shifts in the Medicine Stepdown unit. You will assist nursing staff, perform selected care activities under supervision, and help maintain patient records and unit supplies.

The role requires enrollment in a nursing program, CPR/BLS, and at least one year of patient care experience. You will gain hands‑on experience across patient populations while adhering to HIPAA and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program (diploma, associate or bachelor).
• Must provide proof of continuous enrollment in an approved nursing program.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• At least 1 year experience in patient care or equivalent on‑the‑job training.

Responsibilities

• Participates and performs nursing activities as assigned per policies.
• Assists on the unit with patient care, excluding invasive procedures and meds.
• Helps develop and revise Nursing Care Plans.
• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharges and records.
• Takes and records vital signs and basic measurements.
• Provides one-on-one supervision for patients requiring close observation.
• Maintains patient records and unit documentation.
• Supports with transferring, ambulating and daily living activities.
• Maintains confidentiality and communicates unit needs to staff.
