Job summary

SIU Medicine in Springfield, IL seeks a program-focused professional to develop and deliver trauma education curriculum through the SIU Survivor Recovery Center (SRC) and SIU Office of Correctional Medicine (OCM). The role collaborates with IDOC facilities and community partners to fulfill program goals and mentor learners within SIU School of Medicine.

The position is on-site only and requires curriculum development, teaching, and data-driven program improvement across multiple stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social or behavioral sciences or related health specialty area from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of progressively more responsible full-time experience in the practice of social services/agencies/or medical/clinical setting maintaining acceptable standards of social work practice.
  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with other professionals and community agencies.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have valid Illinois driver's license, reliable vehicle and auto insurance
  • Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Office of Correctional Medicine and IDOC facilities.
  • Act as primary liaison between SRC, OCM, and IDOC facility staff, traveling to various Illinois facilities for meetings, presentations, and other consultations as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with additional community agencies for training and curriculum development purposes.
  • Collect surveys, participant feedback, and other data in support of program evaluation and improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Trauma Education Series curriculum for community partners.
  • Participate in development and implementation of TES curriculum for IDOC staff and incarcerated individuals at IDOC facilities.
  • Provide behavioral health education to rotating medical students and other medical learners as requested.
  • Serve as Attending/Mentor for SRC interns and learners.
  • Assist SRC Evaluator, FCM statistician, and OCM staff to collect and analyze program data.
  • Coordinate with outside research partners as appropriate to assess and improve the program.
  • Serve as resource for individuals/agencies who are seeking additional trauma informed care information or services.
  • Provide supportive counseling interventions to IDOC staff upon request.
  • Participate in professional coaching, training, wellness, and other professional development activities as requested.
  • Facilitate focus groups with staff at partner agencies as necessary for curriculum development.
