Job summary

SIU Medicine seeks a faculty member in the Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation to develop and deliver instructional activities for students, residents, and allied health professionals while advancing service and research in trauma and orthopaedics.

The role emphasizes participation in the community trauma program, mentorship of surgical trainees, and maintaining clinical practice with ongoing scholarly activity within the department and university.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school program.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Illinois or eligible for licensure.
• Board eligible or board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Graduate of formal trauma specialty training.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and participate in undergraduate curricula in orthopaedic trauma.
• Supervise and participate in residency training and clinical teaching.
• Stimulate and initiate clinical research in trauma and orthopaedics.
• Demonstrate commitment to service and collaboration within SIU School of Medicine.
• Maintain a surgical practice to sustain clinical proficiency and participate in departmental committees.
