Job summary

United Health Services trauma registrar role focuses on high-quality data entry and abstraction from patient records into the trauma registry, with retrospective and concurrent collection where possible. The registrar ensures data integrity for prevention and reporting, working with the HIM department and trauma team.

The position is in UHS Emergency and Trauma Services, daytime shift, 20 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must complete AIS coding and ATS registrar class within 12 months of hire.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or another allied health field.
• Minimum: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry within 2 years of Hire.
• Preferred: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry or RHIT certification.

Responsibilities

• Abstraction of data from patient records into the trauma registry.
• Ensure high-quality data entry and data integrity for trauma program use.
• Perform data analysis, validation, and report generation.
• Assist with research support and submission requirements to NYS Trauma Registry and ACS Trauma Quality Program.
