Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Trauma Registrar to remotely collect and abstract trauma data for eligible patients, ensuring timely submission to the NTDB, TQIP, and state registries. You will support performance improvement and accreditation efforts while working with clinicians and quality staff.

Required are strong data management skills, HIPAA privacy knowledge, and 3 years of administrative experience; AS/BS in HIM are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Administrative experience - 3 years required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, AIS coding preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify trauma patients meeting inclusion criteria.
  • Abstract data from EMR/EMS and documentation.
  • Code injuries with AIS and assign ICD-10/CPT codes.
  • Enter abstracted data into registry software on time.
  • Validate data per ACS/NTDB/state standards.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and data security.
  • Produce reports for committees and external agencies.
  • Support accreditation and performance improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and quality staff.
