Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Surgery (Orange, CA) to manage inpatient care across Trauma and Acute Care Surgery services. You will assess patients, participate in shift handoffs, and coordinate consults and discharges with the surgical teams.

The ideal candidate holds California RN and NP licenses, with board certification and privileges, and is prepared to work under joint supervision in a busy Level 1 trauma center environment.

Qualifications

• Current, active California RN license required.
• Current, active California Nurse Practitioner license required.
• Furnishing license and DEA registration required.
• NP board certification AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; ATLS within six months.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient care for the Surgery division including Trauma and Acute Care Surgery.
• Assess health needs and plan/evaluate care for general surgery and SICU patients.
• Participate in inpatient sign-out at shift start and end.
• Coordinate consults, discharge planning and follow-up instructions.
• Triage calls, review critical labs, and document assessments.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
