Job summary

University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks a Nurse Practitioner 2 in the Department of Surgery to provide comprehensive inpatient care across general surgery and surgical ICU services. You will participate in shift sign outs, coordinate with surgeons and residents, and manage complex patient needs with a team approach.

The role requires active CA NP license, national certification, DEA, and strong clinical judgment with excellent communication, documentation, and patient education skills.

Qualifications

• Current, active California RN license (unrestricted).
• Current, active California Nurse Practitioner license (unrestricted).
• Furnishing license and DEA registration.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• NP National Board Certification (AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification; ATLS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess health needs and plan patient care for general surgery and surgical ICU patients.
• Inpatient sign out at shift start/end; collaborate with Surgeons, residents, and attending physicians.
• Perform trauma resuscitations and surgical consultations; coordinate procedures and discharge planning.
