Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Transporter to join our team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

The Transporter supports the Manager and staff by providing timely, courteous, and competent transportation of patients throughout MedStar NHRH and MedStar Washington complexes via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.

Primary Duties:

1. Transport patients, their personal possessions, medical records, and attached clinical devices (IVs and oxygen) by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to and from various hospital locations, including the hospital entrance upon discharge.
2. Ensure patient comfort by being attentive, offering blankets, checking modesty, engaging in appropriate conversation, and assisting in lifting, positioning, and transferring patients to and from examination tables, wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
3. Verify that the patient has a hospital identification band matching the transportation record. Deliver and retrieve supplies, equipment, and records such as laboratory specimens, results, x-ray films, unit supplies, medical charts, pharmacy products, parcels, and messages.
4. Maintain transportation records, including patient or material name, pickup site, destination, departure/arrival times, and notes on difficulties encountered; relay information to the supervisor. Restrain patients as directed using appropriate constraints.
5. Clean transportation equipment by wiping surfaces with pre-mixed cleaning solutions. Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the service manager, log work requests, and remove equipment from service as needed.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Less than 1 year 6 months of experience transporting patients in a hospital setting.
• Current CPR Certification.

This position has a hiring range of $17.50 - $28.73.
