Job summary

VS Engineering, based in Indianapolis, seeks an energetic Civil Transportation Team Lead to manage a growing team and deliver complex transportation projects. The role focuses on leading engineering staff, guiding projects from concept to delivery, and ensuring client satisfaction across local, state, and federal highway initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE licensure in Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky or eligibility.
• 10+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• 5+ years leading projects and managing teams.
• Experience with public sector design (INDOT, counties, municipalities).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a transportation engineering team.
• Oversee projects from conception through completion.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, expanding the project portfolio.
• Work on public sector design projects for INDOT, counties and municipalities.

This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced project manager who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Lead exciting projects that span local, state, and federal highways, and have a direct impact on communities .

As a Civil Transportation Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for managing your own team of talented engineers, overseeing projects, and ensuring quality delivery for our clients. You’ll report directly to VS’s Indiana Transportation Director, and work in a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and professional growth.

Your Role as a Transportation Team Lead:

• Lead and manage a transportation engineering team, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Oversee and drive transportation projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, leading business development efforts and expanding our transportation project portfolio.
• Work on a wide range of projects, including public sector design for INDOT, counties, and municipalities.
• Promote a culture of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving to overcome complex challenges.

Requirements

What You Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Indiana, and/or Ohio and Kentucky.
• At least 10 years of experience designing transportation infrastructure projects.
• At least 5 years of experience in managing projects and leading teams.
• Experience with public sector design projects (INDOT, county, municipal).
• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and quality.
