Job summary

VS Engineering in South Bend, IN is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer to independently lead design tasks for transportation projects in our South Bend office. This role offers growth, training, and project management exposure within a dynamic team.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, 4–8 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe/Bluebeam. PE exam is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program.
• Passed Professional Engineering (PE) exam (preferred).
• 4-8 years relevant work experience in public sector work preferred.
• Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
• Adobe or Bluebeam

Responsibilities

• Lead design tasks for transportation projects.
• Coordinate project tasks and report to project manager and supervisory staff.
• Support Indianapolis and regional offices on infrastructure projects.
• Assist in preparation of proposal documents and preliminary project evaluations

A Typical Day May Include

• Assisting office leadership in the preparation of proposal documents and preliminary project evaluations
• Developing peer network with staff at other firms and public agencies to enhance personal and firm relationships during project coordination efforts
• Coordinating project tasks and reporting to project manager and supervisory staff to assist in budget, schedule, and project status tracking
• Supporting Indianapolis and regional offices on a variety of infrastructure projects
