GEO Corrections & Detentions seeks a Transportation Officer to oversee detainee transport operations, maintain vehicle compliance, and lead a skilled team. You will schedule, train, and supervise staff, ensuring adherence to DOT rules and safety protocols while coordinating with transportation authorities.

The role requires CDL with passenger endorsement or equivalent training, supervisory experience, and DOT safety certifications; a strong candidate collaborates across shifts to maintain

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Six (6) months experience in detainee and inmate transportation.
• Depending on state requirements, a valid "Class B" or "Class C" Chauffeurs Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) endorsement within six (6) months of appointment to position.
• Eighty (80) hours of verified and certified driver's training from an approved company trainer within six (6) months of appointment.
• A current driver's license with no preventable accidents or major violations in the past 3 years.
• Passing a company and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol test.
• Demonstrated experience to function in a supervisory capacity.
• Completion of an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• DOT training compliance must be obtained and maintained.
• Ability to communicate with diverse personalities and interpret complex instructions.
• Proficiency with report writing and employee scheduling software (GEONET).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the team responsible for transporting detainees to various locations and ensure vehicles meet policies and procedures and comply with laws.
• Interview applicants for Transportation Officer positions and onboard, supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff.
• Lead daily operations and scheduling based on facility requirements and DOT rules; support training.
• Monitor vehicles and schedule maintenance, inspections, and repairs in a cost-effective manner.
• Reference Safe Stat records for assigned vehicles and drivers.
• Report and investigate accidents and coordinate with safety committees.
• Conduct safety meetings and maintain liaison with transportation authorities.
• Attend a minimum of 8 hours per year of transportation or regulatory training.
