Job summary

Trilon Group in Nashville, TN is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the HMB team. This role involves designing transportation-related structures such as bridges and culverts, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and guiding junior staff.

The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in Civil Engineering, a Professional Engineer registration, and at least 5 years of relevant experience. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and an excellent compensation package including health and retirement plans.

Description

We're looking for a Structural Engineer to join the HMB team!

Key Responsibilities

• Design of transportation-related structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber elements.
• Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting & review.
• Collaborate with structures group, other disciplines, and sometimes clients to complete projects.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
• Develop engineers cost estimates.
• Guide junior staff by providing direction and constructive feedback.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Experience designing transportation structures including bridges, culverts, and walls.
• 5 years of experience in structural design.
• Project and / or Client Management experience is preferred.
• Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of structural design projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proficiency with CADD software (preferably MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Proficiency with structural design software (i.e. Bentley LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS, etc).
• DOT project experience is preferred.
• Ability and willingness to assist with inter-disciplinary projects outside of structural design.
