Job summary

CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. in Birmingham, AL is seeking a safety training specialist to support the Flatbed Solutions unit.

You will deliver orientation, recurring training, and safety programs for independent contractors, agents, and internal teams, while identifying risks and improving practices. You'll collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Compliance, and field staff to promote safe, compliant operations, review incidents, and help implement corrective actions across the

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in transportation safety, fleet operations, regulatory compliance, training, or related field.
• Experience with open deck load securement and permitted over-dimensional freight.
• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, HOS, and transportation safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safety orientation and recurring training for contractors, agents, trainers, and staff.
• Review inspections, incidents, and safety information to identify trends and risks.
• Communicate safety and regulatory requirements and coordinate follow-up actions.
• Conduct safety observations, ride-alongs, and field assessments.
• Inspect equipment, loads, and facilities for safety concerns.
• Maintain training, inspection, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, compliance, and contractors to promote safe practices.
• Suggest improvements to training, equipment, and practices based on findings.
• Review guidance on open deck cargo securement and oversized loads.
