Job summary

Fresno EOC is seeking a Safety and Training Manager to lead health, safety, and compliance programs. You will ensure a qualified driver workforce, administer driver training, and maintain OSHA standards across facilities.

This role oversees DOT/CHP requirements, conducts safety audits, and drives continuous safety improvements for staff and programs. The position emphasizes supervising staff, coordinating training, and ensuring regulatory readiness, including incident investigations and reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; experience may substitute.
• Minimum of three years of lead, supervisory, or management experience in a safety role, preferably in transit.
• Certification by the State of California to instruct behind the wheel and classroom instruction; or Para-Transit/Transit Management cert within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned staff; recruitment, performance management and other personnel processes.
• Audit records for driver license/certification compliance.
• Administer School Bus Driver training, classroom and behind-the-wheel sessions.
• Maintain SOPs and communicate safety procedures to employees.
• Monitor workplace for hazards and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Lead safety audits and investigations; implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate emergency drills and incident reporting.
• Oversee DOT drug/alcohol program as DER; manage fingerprinting and background checks.
• Ensure CHP inspections readiness and driver licensing maintenance.
• Plan and conduct in-service training meetings; facilitate new employee training.
