Job summary

V3 Companies is seeking a Transportation Project Manager in our Woodridge or Chicago, IL office. This full-time role leads Phase I and II roadways projects for municipalities, counties, IDOT, and Tollway, with a strong emphasis on design, coordination, and client relations.

You'll mentor staff, collaborate with multiple disciplines, and contribute to business development while delivering high-quality transportation solutions across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Illinois PE license required.
• 10+ years related experience in transportation/public works.
• Strong communication and listening skills; able to lead Phase I/II projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design transportation and public works projects from concept to final design.
• Prepare concept, feasibility, and Phase I studies.
• Prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates per IDOT and local standards.
• Collaborate with other PMs and disciplines; mentor staff.
• Assist in business development and client relationship management.
• Attend interviews for new project pursuits.
• Manage client relationships, billing, and collections.

Transportation Project Manager

V3 Companies, a multidisciplinary AEC firm, is seeking a Transportation Project Manager in our Woodridge or Chicago, IL office, where you will contribute to career-defining projects that reimagine our built and natural world. Join our dynamic and growing transportation team as a Project Manager with an emphasis on pursuing and delivering Phase I and II engineering services on transportation and public works projects for local municipalities, county DOTs, IDOT, Chicago DOT, and Illinois Tollway. Will also provide technical assistance across growing regional offices.

You'll change the shape of your community by connecting people and designing roads, creating impact that lasts. And, as part of our Transportation Planning and Design team, you will collaborate with 450+ designers, engineers, and scientists to make meaningful, effective change across North America.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Lead and support the development and design of transportation and public works projects from concept through final design.
• Prepare concept, feasibility, and Phase I studies.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and local agency standards.
• Collaborate with other project managers within the transportation team as well as other V3 disciplines in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and project pursuits.
• Help to ensure that staff development, mentoring and training needs are being met.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of Phase I and II engineering documents.
• Prepare proposals and attend interviews for new project pursuits.
• Engage in business development activities to develop and maintain relationships with public sector clientele.
• Attend industry networking events on behalf of V3.
• Manage client relationships and accounts, including billing & collections, and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Illinois Professional Engineering License required.
• Experience: 10+ years of related experience.
• Strong Communication and Listening Skills.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Experience leading/delivering Phase I and Phase II projects involving roadways, expressways, intersections, bridges, utilities, streetscapes, and multimodal accommodations.
  • Strong knowledge of IDOT, local agency, and Illinois Tollway standards, policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer software a plus
