Job summary

V3 Companies in Illinois seeks a Transportation Civil Designer for our Woodridge or Chicago offices to shape communities through roadway design and infrastructure improvements. You’ll work with 450+ professionals across North America, applying OpenRoads Designer and performing traffic studies and cost estimates.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, 0–4 years’ experience with DOTs and openroads proficiency; EIT is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 0–4 years of related experience on DOT and municipal projects.
• OpenRoads Designer proficiency required.
• EIT certification preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare engineering drawings for roadway projects using OpenRoads Designer.
• Perform quantity and cost estimate calculations.
• Prepare construction specifications.
• Conduct preliminary engineering tasks such as traffic and intersection studies.
• Handle client relations as needed.
• Collaborate with other V3 disciplines on multi-faceted projects.

Job description

V3 Companies, a multidisciplinary AEC firm, is seeking a Transportation Civil Designer in either our Woodridge, IL or Chicago, IL office, where you will contribute to career-defining projects that reimagine our built and natural world.

You'll change the shape of your community by connecting people and designing roads, creating impact that lasts. And, as part of our Transportation Planning & Design team, you will collaborate with 450+ designers, engineers, and scientists to make meaningful, effective change across North America.

Here's what you'll do:

• Design and prepare engineering drawings using Bentley's OpenRoads Designer for roadway and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Perform quantity and cost estimate calculations.
• Prepare construction specifications.
• Perform preliminary engineering tasks such as traffic studies, intersection design studies, geometric studies and project report development.
• Handle client relations as needed.
• Work closely with other V3 disciplines on multi-faceted projects.

We're looking for:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• 0-4 years of related experience on projects for clients such as IDOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, County DOT's and local municipalities.
• OpenRoads Designer proficiency.
• EIT certification.
