Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a project management professional to oversee transportation construction projects of varying complexity. You will assist engineers, supervise inspectors, and ensure plans, reports, and estimates meet standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management with 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent.
• Ability to travel; physical requirements include standing, walking, and working in potentially hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from minor to advanced complexity such as Federal Aid Resurfacing, urban road widening, and bridge projects.
• Assist Project Engineers with project management duties and coordination of inspectors.
• Review reports, estimates, and final plans prepared by subordinates; monitor QA/QC, erosion, and traffic control.
• Perform project inspection duties and participate in project closeout.
• Interface with the public, contractors, utilities, and officials as needed while representing the Department.
